Soviet–Japanese War
The Red Army crushes the Kwantung Army in three weeks

On 8 August 1945, as agreed at Yalta, the USSR declared war on Japan and struck into Manchuria, ending Manchukuo. Soviet troops took southern Sakhalin, the Kurils and Korea north of the 38th parallel, and on 2 September Japan signed its surrender.
