Austro-Prussian War
A seven-week war decides who will unite Germany

In the summer of 1866 Prussia and Italy fought Austria and her German allies; the war was decided at Sadowa (Königgrätz) on 3 July. The German Confederation was dissolved, Prussia annexed Hanover, Hesse-Kassel, Nassau and Frankfurt and formed the North German Confederation, and Italy gained Venetia.
