The fall of the Emirate of Bukhara
The last emir flees and Bukhara becomes a people's republic
In September 1920 Red Army units under Mikhail Frunze, together with the Young Bukharans, stormed Bukhara, badly damaging the Ark citadel. Emir Alim Khan fled and eventually settled in Kabul, and the Bukharan People's Soviet Republic was proclaimed in place of the emirate.
