Andrei Rublev's Trinity
The most famous Russian icon

Andrei Rublev painted the Trinity for the cathedral of St Sergius's monastery, in 1411 or in 1425–1427 by different accounts. Three angels at a table, free of clutter and in luminous blues, became a model for icon painters. The icon is now in the Tretyakov Gallery.
