Koxinga drives the Dutch from Taiwan
A Ming loyalist general makes the island his kingdom

In the spring of 1661 the fleet of Zheng Chenggong (Koxinga), who was fighting the Manchus for the Ming, landed on Taiwan and besieged the Dutch Fort Zeelandia. In February 1662, after a nine-month siege, the Dutch surrendered, and the island became the kingdom of the Zheng family until the Qing conquest of 1683.
