Treaty of Zuhab
A border drawn in 1639 that still largely holds today
The peace between the Ottoman Empire and Safavid Iran ended the war of 1623–1639. Baghdad and Mesopotamia, retaken by Sultan Murad IV a year earlier, stayed Ottoman, while the Caucasus was divided. The Zuhab line roughly matches Iran's present-day borders with Turkey and Iraq.
