Yugoslav Wars
Yugoslavia's break-up brings war and ethnic cleansing
In 1991 Slovenia and Croatia left Yugoslavia, followed by Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina; the break-up brought wars in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo. The siege of Sarajevo lasted almost four years, and about 8,000 Bosniak Muslims were killed at Srebrenica in 1995. Some 130,000–140,000 people died in all.
