The Arab Revolt
The Sharif of Mecca rises against the sultan, with Lawrence

In June 1916 Sharif Hussein bin Ali of Mecca, promised Arab independence by Britain, rose against the Ottomans. His son Faisal and British officer T. E. Lawrence raided the Hejaz Railway, took Aqaba in 1917 and entered Damascus in October 1918. The promised unified Arab state never materialised.
