Nuremberg trials
An international tribunal tries the leading Nazi war criminals
From November 1945 to October 1946 the International Military Tribunal set up by the USSR, the United States, Britain and France tried the leaders of Nazi Germany. Twelve defendants were sentenced to death. The trial first established crimes against peace and crimes against humanity and laid the foundations of international criminal law.
