Treaty of Aigun
The Amur becomes the border as Russia reaches the Pacific

In 1858 Nikolai Muravyov, Governor-General of Eastern Siberia, who was given the title 'Amursky' for it, signed a treaty at Aigun giving Russia the left bank of the Amur. The Convention of Peking of 1860 added the Maritime region, where Vladivostok was founded that same year.
