Union of South Africa
Four British colonies unite in a self-governing dominion
On 31 May 1910, eight years after the Boer War, the Cape, Natal, the Transvaal and the Orange River Colony united as a dominion of the British Empire. Almost everywhere only whites could vote, and the 1913 Natives Land Act left Africans about 7% of the land.
