Treaty of Adrianople
Russia crosses the Balkans and dictates peace to the Sultan
The Russo-Turkish War of 1828–1829 ended with Diebitsch's march across the Balkans. By the peace signed at Adrianople in September 1829 Russia gained the Danube mouth and the Caucasian Black Sea coast, Serbia and the Danubian Principalities won broad autonomy, and the Sultan accepted Greek autonomy.
