Dissolution of Austria-Hungary
Within weeks the empire gives way to new states
In autumn 1918 the Habsburg monarchy fell apart: Czechoslovakia was proclaimed in Prague on 28 October, the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs in Zagreb on the 29th, Hungary ended the union on the 31st, and western Galicia went to Poland. German-Austria was proclaimed on 12 November.
