March on Rome: Mussolini takes power
Europe's first fascist regime takes power
In October 1922 Blackshirt squads marched on Rome, and King Victor Emmanuel III asked Benito Mussolini to form a government. Within a few years he turned Italy into a one-party dictatorship.
