Storming of Lankaran
The capital of the Talysh Khanate passes to Russia

During the Russo-Persian War, General Kotlyarevsky's force stormed Lankaran, the Persian-held fortress of the Talysh Khanate, on 1 January 1813. That October the Treaty of Gulistan gave Talysh to Russia; today the Talysh homeland is split between Azerbaijan and Iran.
