Flinders sails around Australia
The first voyage round the continent, and the name 'Australia'

In 1801–1803 Matthew Flinders in HMS Investigator became the first to sail around the continent, charting most of its coast. He also championed the name 'Australia' instead of New Holland, which took hold in the 1820s.
